questions about why there are so many churches. She was asking us tons
of questions about the Book of Mormon, she asked about all the other
people who don't get the chance to receive the gospel and we told her
about the spirit world. We bore testimony of how much god loves us and
because of that he will always give us a second chance. The spirit was
so strong and we really enjoyed our time with her. We just have to
wait until her husband gives the okay and she will be baptized.
Saturday was a day full of crazy awesome miracles. The Lord has been
so good to us. We went out to lunch with an eikaiwa student and she
doesn't have tons of interest but she brought her husband who has lots
of interest in what we are doing in Japan with her and we are hoping
to get him to come to eikaiwa so the elders can meet him. After that
we met with Ayako who I have been working on getting her to meet with
us and take the lessons for 5 months and she is finally taking the
lessons! We had a lesson with her about a month ago and we gave her a
plan of salvation pamphlet and challenged her to read it. When we went
over to her house she said that she reads the pamphlet everyday for 30
minutes and studies that one page everyday really hard. We were so
surprised! We are excited to give her the Book of Mormon in our next
lesson. Later on that day we met with Chat and she is sooooo in love
with the Book of Mormon and we gave her the whole history of it and we
want to give her the Book of Mormon children book to make it easier
for her to understand. She memorized the date of when Moroni appears
to Joseph smith and is trying to remember all the prophets in the Book
of Mormon. She said she wants to read it all, little by little of
course, but she is so curious. I am so happy with how in love our
investigators are with the Book of Mormon. It will be a foundation for
them for the rest of their lives.
Big miracle right after we met with chat. We jumped on the train back
home and I decided to move more into the middle of the train for some
reason. Sister Horito and I were talking about the lesson when we
heard the man sitting in front of us say,"Mormon.......Jesus
Christ.....America.......missionaries" I was trying to see if he knew
that we were the Mormon missionaries that he was talking about
standing right in front of him. We were like, "hey we are Mormon
missionaries!" He was sooo surprised. He is from Fukuoka and barely
moved to Adachi about two weeks ago and took the lesson from the
elders there but when he moved he didn't know how to contact the
missionaries and didn't know where the church was. I told him, well we
know exactly how to help you meet them again. So we traded phone
numbers and gave him the Adachi elders number and I think the zone
leaders called the Adachi elders for us and he is referred to them. It
was such a cool miracle and sister Horito was practically skipping all
the way home. It was so good!
Katou Shimai! She finally came to church on Sunday!! The ward welcomed
her back with open arms and they made her feel so good! Everyone made
her feel so comfortable. Saito Shimai helped her with her family
history work so she can bring names to the temple. Katou Shimai wants
to go do baptisms for the dead in the temple really bad. We have a
temple recommend interview set up for her next Sunday and she is
committed to it all again. She was baptized in February but had a hard
time after that. She is going to be okay now. Her testimony is growing
and we are so happy for her. She told me, "sister staples I feel the
reason why you have been working in Okegawa for so long is because you
were gunna bring me back to church." All I know is that god is the one
that brought her back, The Lord is working on her heart. It's so
wonderful to see.
