some progressing investigators and we are getting referrals from
members and it is wonderful! Our ward had 7 friends come to church
yesterday, we haven't had that many in a long time and we are hoping
to double it next week!
On Tuesday we had appointments with Daleska Polanco (a girl in our
ward) and her friend Saiyaka. Daryl sifuentes also came and brought
his girlfriend, yuka for us to teach. So we had these two awesome
youth bring us people who they cared about so much to teach the gospel
to. We taught them about the restoration. Saiyaka loved it and knew
that the first Vision was true and said that she believed that Joseph
smith really did see god and Jesus Christ! She had so much desire to
know if the Book of Mormon was true or not and we gave it to her to
study. We were going to just ask them to pray about the truthfulness
of this message because we weren't sure how Daleska and Daryl would
feel about us doing that to their friends. But Daleska whispered to
me, "バプテスマ！(baptism)" so I was like "okay lets do it!" We extended the
commitment and they both said they both would be baptized when they
knew it was true. We are going to set official dates in our next
lessons with them. It was such a miracle!
Yuka came to church this Sunday and Daryl helped her download all of
the gospel apps on her phone and studied about the Book of Mormon with
her on her phone after we took the sacrament. It was so cool. I was
just sitting next to them and Daryl was teaching her! He would ask me
to put in my testimony everyone in a while and he asked me to explain
the spirit but that was about it. He is an awesome member missionary!
We had a lesson on Saturday after eikaiwa with yoshimi and she is so
wonderful. She said that she loved our church because we focused on
the importance of the family. We taught her about the plan of
salvation and she was glowing afterwards. We really wanted to meet her
husband to see if he was going to be okay with everything. Soooo... We
made cookies! And we brought them to her apartment to surprise her. He
was home and we got to know him. They are the cutest family. He said
that yes they are all Buddhist but they love christmas and adopt good
things about other religions. We taught him about Heavenly Father and
he liked it. We didn't want to go too far with him concerning the
gospel so we left it at that and are going to let him ponder it out.
Zone conference was amazing and I learned so
much. Sister Brumley loved it and we made so many goals from it. We
are making a huge focus on the standards of excellence And church
attendance. Our key indicators have gone up a lot and we are really
hoping to show the sisters that this big Sunday challenge is possible
in Saitama west zone!
I love Okegawa ward. Soooooo much! They are my favorite ward I have to
say. Their hearts are so filled with dendo fire and we are seeing many
changes. I really want to help this ward reach its full potential. The
Mabunga family in this ward is amazing but they haven't gone to the
temple yet, I am determined to help them make that goal to go to the
temple! We had Sunday dinner with them last night, the spirit was
great but they need that temple sealing in their home. This Sunday at
church a lot of the ward got together during the last hour and we went
through the less active list and made lots of plans to visit them.
They are making plans to extend the church in August. I can feel a
change coming in Okegawa and we are extending the church to make more
room to bring the less actives come back to church and for people to
come unto Christ through baptism. It is so exciting! DAHH!
